Virtual Walk Details

Thank you for joining us for the 2021 Germantown Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Virtual Walk! It’s because of the continued support of this incredible community that we’re able to bring crucial support and education to scleroderma patients while we fund research to find a cure.

Join us virtually on August 21 and help us reach our $15,000 goal! Here’s how to participate:

  1. Sign up - Sign up today as a virtual walker - registration is $25 (kids 12 and under are free). You can register the whole family! Sign up as an individual, create a team or join a team.
  2. Fundraise - Once you've registered, it’s time to start the most important part fundraising! The money you raise supports research into new scleroderma treatments and, ultimately, a cure. Start with a goal of raising $100 if every walker nationwide did that, we’d raise nearly $1 million!
  3. Walk - On or before August 21, step out for scleroderma! We may not be gathering as a group this year, but we can still have fun and show our support for this cause - take a walk around your neighborhood, hop on a treadmill or do another activity of your choice!
  4. Share a photo or video - Post a photo or video of you enjoying your walk! You can tag us on Facebook @gcscleroderma and use the hashtag #WalkAloneTogetherSF.

HOW TO RAISE MONEY

Every dollar raised adds up. If every walker nationwide raised just $100, we'd raise nearly $1 million for scleroderma research and support. Here are a few tips to get started.

BUILD YOUR TEAM. More team members means more people working toward your team’s fundraising goal.

BE SPECIFIC. Asking for a specific amount - such as $10, $25 or $50 - can help people understand how to make an impact.

LEAD BY EXAMPLE. Make a personal gift to start things off. That often sets the bar for future gifts.

KEEP IT PERSONAL. Tell your story about how scleroderma has affected your life, or the life of a loved one. Reminding people why you're invested in the cause and why their support is important to you is key.

GO ONLINE. Online donations are, on average, twice the size of those made by cash or check. Include a link to donate with every message you send so it’s easy for people to give.

SAY THANK YOU. There's a rule in the fundraising world - ask once, thank twice. Showing appreciation is important and key to keeping people involved.

We look forward to "seeing" you virtually!
