SF Partners with American Thoracic Society for Research Grant

New Grant Honors Former Foundation Supporter

ats-logo.gifThe Scleroderma Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with the American Thoracic Society (ATS) on a two-year research grant that is specific to lung involvement in scleroderma.  ATS is a leading medical professional organization comprised of thoracic and pulmonary experts dedicated to pulmonary disease research and treatment. Funding for this grant is part of our annual commitment to funding peer-reviewed research. With this partnership, the Foundation can reach even farther among researchers working on lung disease in scleroderma.

In addition, we’re also pleased to announce a new named grant for the 2013 Research Grant cycle. The Linda Lee Wells Research Grant has been awarded to Patricia A. Pioli, Ph.D., from Dartmouth University School of Medicine.

Linda-Wells.jpgThis new grant honors Ms. Wells, who lost her battle with scleroderma in 2008. When she was first diagnosed with the disease some years ago, she turned to the Scleroderma Foundation for information and education about her condition. Always appreciative of the work and mission of the Scleroderma Foundation, Ms. Wells left the organization a significant legacy through a charitable remainder trust and her family asked the Foundation to use the funds to advance scleroderma research and education.
