2013 Research Grant Recipients Announced by Foundation

The Scleroderma Foundation is proud to announce that it will be funding six research grants for 2013.

At a time when many organizations and government agencies are cutting back on vital research funding, the Foundation continues to fortify its role as the leading private funder of scleroderma research.   

This accomplishment has been made possible by the thousands of supporters who share our commitment to promote and encourage research in the search for a cure for scleroderma.   

The Foundation’s peer-reviewed research grant funding program has earned a unique place in the field of scleroderma research. It is respected by government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases and it has been modeled by other patient advocacy organization.

The 2012 grant recipients are:

  • Antonis Aliprantis, M.D., Ph.D., Brigham and Women's Hospital – Recipient of the Mark Flapan Award
  • Carol M. Artlett, Ph.D.,   Drexel University          
  • Irina G. Luzina, M.D., Ph.D., University of Maryland School of Medicine           
  • J. Lee Nelson, M.D., Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center             
  • Patricia Ann Pioli, Ph.D., Dartmouth University School of Medicine
  • Jun Wei, Ph.D.,  Northwestern University – Recipient of the Marta Marx Award
