Scleroderma.org Wins Prestigious Award

MarCom Presents Award to Our Revamped Website

MarCom2012_gold-bug.pngThe Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP) honored the Scleroderma Foundation this week. The organization received a Gold Award in AMCP’s annual MarCom Awards for its recently redesigned website (www.scleroderma.org). The annual contest recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals.

The Scleroderma Foundation entered in the “Best Nonprofit Website” category, competing against other entries, many submitted by larger organizations with significantly higher budgets and resources. The redesigned website was made possible by a generous gift from the estate of Ben D. Rea. More than 30 years ago, Mr. Rea lost the love of his life – Shirley – when she passed away from complications related to scleroderma. The executor of the Rea estate wished that the funds be used to advance scleroderma education. Scleroderma.org is one of the greatest educational tools that the organization has to reach a large number of people affected by the disease. The new Scleroderma.org was designed with the help of Cathexis Partners, who works with many nonprofits to improve their online and digital strategies using Convio/Blackbaud solutions.

The MarCom Awards selected winners in more than 200 categories including publications, promotions and electronic/interactive. This year, there were more than 6,000 entries from around the world. To learn more about the awards, visit www.marcomawards.com.
