Diagnosed with Scleorderma Pulmonary Fibrosis

My life day by day living and struggling with this disease.

Hi my name is Owen Teruel. I was diagnosed with Scleroderma Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2006 at age 28. It started out that I was getting tired very easily and out of breath. It seemed very odd to me since I was young and something like going up a few stairs cause me to be out of breath. So my primary doctor referred me to a Pulmonary Doctor there he did Xrays. When I came in for my results he said something was not right so I need a biopsy done to see exactly what was wrong. I was worried and concerned at this point. After that process I was sent to University of Miami where I met my Dr. Marcos Maldonado, he explaind that I had Scleroderma Pulmonary Fibrosis and what it was. I was then treated with Chemotherapy. After that treatment I have been on steroids. I am husband and proud father of four with twins with Cerebral Palsy age 15. At first it was easy and hard to accept this disease but throughout the years I have learn to live with it. I give thanks to God everyday I am still here and he gives me the strength I need daily. I have a good support from my family and I love them very much with all my heart. To those who are also fighting this disease live your day to the fullest and treasure and spend every moment with your loved ones.
