About 54 million American adults have arthritis, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Almost half of those adults are limited in activities due to the condition.

Arthritis is a leading cause of disability. It can cause pain, achiness, stiffness, and swelling. It is not a normal part of aging. The most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, and fibromyalgia.

Please join us for the Federal Pain Research Strategy Forum and Public Comment Period.

The Draft Federal Pain Research Strategy (FPRS) will be presented and discussed. Your questions and comments will be appreciated. The meeting is open to the public. No registration is required. This meeting immediately follows the Annual NIH Pain Consortium Symposium featuring presentations about Multidisciplinary Strategies for the Management of Pain.

The Federal Pain Research Strategy is an effort of the Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee and the NINDS Office of Pain Policy to oversee development of a long-term strategic plan for pain research. A diverse and balanced group of scientific experts, patient advocates, and federal representatives identified and prioritized research recommendations as a basis for a long-term strategic plan to coordinate and advance the federal pain research agenda.

SPIN: Exercise Habits of People with Scleroderma

yoga2.jpgThere's very little information known about the exercise habits of people living with scleroderma. Adult participants in the Scleroderma Patient-centered Intervention Network (SPIN) Cohort completed surveys from March 2014 to August 2015 about their exercise habits. Researchers wanted to assess the proportion of individuals with scleroderma who exercise, and to find out the weekly amount of time spent exercising, along with the types of exercises performed.
