funding and awareness.
- Advanced the Continuing Medical Education
program for medical professionals.

because of you! Please help us make
this a season of hope with your tax deductible ear-end gift.

Stanford University Researchers Have Identified Gene Activity to Predict Disease Progression
Researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine
and six other institutions have designed a new diagnostic tool scleroderma. By measuring the activity of genes in skin samples, the scientists could predict disease progression as much as a year earlier than clinicians who were using standard methods to evaluate patients.
The study results were published earlier this month in JCI Insight. The lead authors are Shane Lofgren, a research associate at Stanford, and Monique Hinchcliff, M.D., associate professor of medicine at Northwestern University. The senior author is Purvesh Khatri, Ph.D., assistant professor of medicine at Stanford.
